One of the best uses of the Internet is the timely and convenient communications provided by a good e-mail system. E-mail has the advantages of very fast delivery and yet is unobtrusive to the recipient. E-mail messages can be saved for future reference and can be replied to in a manner than provides a history of the "conversation."
Our primary e-mail products is Microsoft Exchange. This product is included in the BackOffice and Small Business Server suites. Exchange provides much more than just e-mail however, Exchange is a "groupware" product that provides easy collaboration within your corporate network and the world.
Most people are familiar with Outlook which provides e-mail, calendars, tasks, and notes for individual users. Exchange brings all this data into one database for all users and provides means of sharing the data. With security, you may allow other people to view and/or edit your calendar, tasks, e-mail etc.
Because Exchange is a client/server application you can connect to the office server over slow Internet connections and view or change all of your Outlook data. You can seamlessly synchronize this data to your home or laptop computer.
Exchange can also become your Internet POP3 server. This means you add new mailboxes for your staff on your own server and do not incur the hassles and expense of doing this thru your Internet service provider.
