This program from Parsec Computer Corporation is intended to provide our clients with the benefits of an in-house system administrator without the costs associated with adding a full-time person. We are calling this program a “Timeshare Administrator” or TA. This program can be combined with our ServicePlus program that covers every aspect of the file server and core network components.
An administrator that works regularly in your office would learn your people, systems and most importantly, your business. With this relationship you would benefit from efficient solutions development since most of the basic groundwork is already in place. The administrator will know the capabilities and time demands on each member of your staff and can utilize this knowledge in coordinating the project.
The TA has keen knowledge of productivity software and how to effectively implement and train in its use, this adds significant value to the relationship. We find that most people use only 5% of the features of Microsoft Office and similar applications. There are tremendous productivity improvements there, just waiting to be utilized. By communicating with your entire staff the TA will be able to recognize where the benefits can be achieved.
Under this plan, the TA will work under a set schedule agreed to by both parties. During this period the TA will work strictly on projects for the client and generally at the client’s location. Basic system maintenance tasks would assume priority while the client would prioritize all other tasks. If the TA is unavailable during the scheduled time then makeup time will be rescheduled as soon as possible. This may be required for illness or for dealing with an emergency at another location.
Emergency Services
In the event of a serious issue requiring immediate response the TA or other qualified technician will respond with 2 working hours.
The TA is in charge of:
- Server Administration – Maintaining user accounts, security, passwords. Mailboxes etc.
- Documentation and Media organization – It is imperative that all document and media be kept organized and that detailed installation logs be updated.
Monitoring Backup procedures: The TA will regularly verify the backup system can be read, that everything that needs backup is getting backed up and that the tapes are stored securely.
A disaster plan is made to try and deal with every “what if” scenario that may strike your network. Having a plan will greatly improve how quickly a system can be returned to operation in the event of a failure. Designing a disaster plan also helps by determining where fault-tolerance and redundancy needs to built in to the design before a failure occurs.
Compliance monitoring for software licenses
The TA will assist in maintaining records of software licensing and how they are installed.
The TA will learn the client’s individual applications as far as installation and configuration are concerned. The TA will be used to communicate with the software vendor when technical issues are involved outside the normal day-to-day usage of the software
Coordinating the special projects using the full staff of Parsec Computer Corporation and in-house staff as required.
Parsec Computer Corporation offers this program to provide the benefits described above and to provide for a “quantity discount” for our labor rates. The reduced rates are based upon the annual hours agreed to. In the event that a contract is cancelled early, the client agrees to pay the additional charges that would have been incurred at the full normal rate for that contract year.
